The primer of the accelerated drying “Fastprime”

Type:  FastPrim primer is a suspension of pigments and additives in alkyd modified resin.

Scope:  The primer “Fastprime” is intended for priming of previously prepared metal surfaces under coatings with fastcoat enamel, alkyd and melamino-alide enamels, as well as temporary protection against corrosion of metal structures for the period of installation and storage.

Benefits:

fast primer curing at 20 ° С;

the high quality of the pigments that make up the primer gives the resulting coating excellent decorative properties – a smooth matte surface is formed;

due to the content in the soil composition of a carefully selected complex of anticorrosive pigments, the development of corrosion on the metal is prevented;

the coating has good adhesion to metal;

The primer forms a weatherproof, water resistant, resistant to the action of mineral oil and diesel fuel coating.

Surface preparation: Before applying the primer, metal surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned from dust, rust, scale and other contaminants (it is necessary to remove notches, burrs, welding spatter, round sharp edges, corners, teeth and welding seams; there should be no grease, marking paint and other on the surface substances, such as mineral contaminants, water-soluble salts that affect the quality of surface preparation), are sanded, degreased and dried. It is most thoroughly necessary to clean the surface in the weld zone up to 3 cm wide from residues of fluxes, alkaline slags and oxides formed during welding. To improve the protective properties of the surface, it is recommended to pre-clean sandblasted or shot blasting to the degree of cleaning of oxides 1 – 2. Painting should be done no later than 4 hours after surface preparation. On welds, butt edges and hard-to-reach areas, prior to painting, primers are applied in the form of a “strip layer.” Previously painted surfaces must be cleaned from dust, grease, sanding, degreasing, drying and testing. In the case of swelling or peeling, the old coating must be removed. To avoid moisture condensation, the temperature of the surface to be painted should be above the dew point temperature by at least 3 ° C.

Coating:  Primer applied by pneumatic, airless spray or brush. Before use, the primer is thoroughly mixed, if necessary, diluted with xylene (GOST 9410), orthoxylene (TU BY 300042199.015) or solvent (GOST 10214) in an amount of not more than 20% of the primer mass, filtered and applied in one to two layers. Brush primer can be applied at the exhaust viscosity.

Drying time of a single-layer primer coating at a temperature

(20 ± 2) ° С relative air humidity not more than 80% – not more

25 min The thickness of the dried single-layer coating is not less than 15 microns; after sandblasting or shot blasting, the thickness of the coating should be increased taking into account the degree of surface roughness Ra.

If it is necessary to apply an additional layer of primer, it is recommended to withstand a coating of 5 to 7 minutes at a temperature of (20 ± 2) ° C and a relative humidity of not more than 80%. Increasing the thickness of the coating allows to obtain the best protective properties. For the final formation of the coating, the painted product should be kept for 5 days at a temperature of (20 ± 2) ° C and a relative air humidity not exceeding 80% before use.

Primer consumption  on a single-layer coating 80 – 100 g / m² without taking into account the preparation of the painted surface, application method, primer color, personnel qualification, coating thickness, etc.

Precautionary measures:  When carrying out painting works in the enclosed space, and also after their termination careful airing is necessary. Wear rubber gloves to protect your hands.

Storage: Store the  primer in a tightly closed container, protected from moisture and direct sunlight, away from heating devices, out of the reach of children. Keep away from fire.
